Hi guys,

This happens to me since i have the R9 290, before i had a pair of HD7870 and it was all fine. I'm running Catalyst Control 14.4 and i have done a driver sweep and re install already that didn't help at all. I do have the card overclocked to 1100/1270, might this be a part of the problem?
My setup is the following:
i7-2600 4,2GHz
R9 290 Asus DirectCU II
12GB RAM
Asus Sabertooth P67
Cooler Master B700 700Watt
CM TX3 EVO
Corsair 600T

Thanks in advance

Possible but not terribly likely to be honest. This sounds like a bitcoin or litecoin mining virus as was mentioned earlier.

what does it do if you take off the OC on your GPU? also, 14.4 drivers are fairly poor IMO, try 13.6 if removing the overclock doesn't help. one other thing is to check you have the card set to uber mode not quiet (i know you probably already do)

How many drives are you running? You are very close to the limit of your PSU with that setup. Try powering down and then unplugging your optical drive(s) and any USB devices you are running (aside from mouse/keyboard) and see if the problem persists. If it does I would dial the OC on the card back a bit (especially if you have changed the voltages on it).

@phate1337 Now i have clocked the cores back, but so far it is still running 100% load. I haven't try a reset yet though. And, as far as i know, an R9 290 (non x) doesn't have Uber and quiet mode right?

@alanOn I'm running 3 HDD's, could that be the problem? I didn't change the voltage when overclocking btw.Further i only have a Mic connected. Within the case i have 4 Fans; 2 x 200MM and 2 x 120MM

Well, the pc does not appear to be hijacked, nothing happened to the gpu when idle before playing a game. Another issues that i had, was that the game crashed regulary (crysis, bf4) but now as i have removed the OC, this doesn't happen anymore and when i normally shut down the game, the core clock just goes back to idle :D. Strangely though, is that in both Unigine and 3DMark the OC appeared to be stable, could anyone explain this?
