Hello there, I have been wondering for a while now if I can/should overclock my AMD Athlon X4 740 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor. And also, what this "3.7 Max Turbo" I found on the box? Is that the max clock? Is it the frequency it will run at when needed? Do I need some kind of software to utilize the Turbo? Also, my relevant specs are as follows.

CPU: AMD Athlon X4 740 3.2GHz
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: MSI A55M-E33 Micro ATX FM2+

Please do tell me if I need to add any more details.

Turbo is the speed the cpu will reach if the task demands it, it is not the max frequency the cpu can reach. You won't need software for the turbo to take effect (note the cpu won't stay at that frequency for long though). You can go ahead and overclock there is no harm in it and you have a good cooler so its fine. Just remember when overclocking turn off the turbo mode in you bios (it can lead to instability if left on).
