Lag Spikes in BF4?

I've been playing BF4 a lot lately and I have been getting strange lag spikes where I will be running at smooth 80 FPS and then suddenly down to 20 FPS for about 5-7 seconds. I would be very greatful for any help. Thanks.

Core i5 3470 3.6Ghz
2x4GB Dual Channel 1600Mhz Patriot Viper RAM
AMD Radeon R9 290X

I am using Mantle and the same thing happens if Mantle is turned off.

I literally had this exact problem with my set-up not too long ago.

AMD FX-8320
AMD Radeon 7950
2x4GB Dual Channel 1866 VisonTek RAM

I was never able to reconcile this issue.
So what i did was sell the 7950 when they were $500+ from mining, and get a GTX 780.
Then reinstalled the OS, and the game, and voila.

The only thing i think may have been the issue was an unstable overclock of the CPU and/or GPU, or the MOBO was acting up.
