I think my ps3 broke my monitor.
There is a faint line near the bottom of my monitor, as well as near the top that go horizontally from one end of the screen to the other. in the middle of my screen, and a bitt to the left, are a bunch of shorter horizontal lines.

Now i have never seen these lines untilll a few minutes ago. these arre the events that happened to my noticing:

So i was browsing the internet for around an hour or two, my monitor was perfectly fine, when i realised that dlc comes out for a game i play today. i switched the input on my monitor from dvi (pc) to hdmi (ps3). So i go download the dlc, get into a match, and notice these lines.

i think, my ps3 cable must be loose or something, so i switch input back to pc. however, i still notice these lines. i tried swapping cables for both pc and ps3, but still see these lines. i try this next: i unplug all the inputs to the monitor, and turn it on, so i see the "no signal" screen. lo and behold, with no inputs, i see the lines.

So now know its the monitor. However, i could of sworn that those lines were never there before. after staring at them for a bit thinking about the problem, i realise something.

for ps3 users, you know when you are rummaging through the settings, or downloading something, whatever, when there is an instance the ps3 has you chose a yes or no option, there is a white line across the top, on across the bottom, and the text in between.

Well, i noticed that the lines on my monitor match the lines on the ps3 screen EXACTLY. right on top.

Further more, when in the menu of the ps3, the interface ahs it so that the thing you want to chose, wheter a game, a friend whatever, is always at the same spot.

Well, that is exactly where the smaller horizontal lines are.

So my question: Did my ps3 just break my monitor? I have never seen these lines until i started up my ps3 today, but the lines match the ps3 hud perfectly. What cause these lines and how can i fix them?

I should also add, the lines are not like a stain. They are flickering grey lines that are very faint, but noticable in when the monitor is displaying darker colors

How long have you had that screen and how long have you been using it with your PS3? LCD screens do suffer from image burn in, it is just much slower. If you often let your PSU sit on one of those menus while the monitor is on, they will slowly burn the image into the screen.

I only got this monitor about 2 months ago, it is an ips led monitor, and i never let images sit on my screen if i dont have to. But thats the thing. Ive used the ps3 and pc on it before, why the glitch now?

Ive only noticed the lines like an hour ago

I should also add, the lines are not like a stain. They are flickering grey lines that are very faint, but noticable in when the monitor is displaying darker colors

and also, when i wiggle the monitor, the lines are more noticable when you look around. So if you stare at one corner, and look at another, from the corner of your eye (and for the time that your eye is moving), you see the lines ALOT more clearly. It is the weirdest thing. Like these lines are most visible when your eyes are moving
