Hello, I just bought a Seagate 480GB to replace my old 500GB HDD. I'm trying to copy everything on my HDD onto my SSD. Any idea how to do this? Thanks.

There are various migration tools. CloneZilla, Macrium, DriveimageXML and others.

But I always recommend a clean install in a new SSD.

Drive cloning tools may help you a lot. Just search one to have a try!

Unfortunately you cannot just copy files from a hard disk drive to a solid state drive. It is a bit more complicated. You would have to use one of the data migration applications. Cloning software usually works reasonably well; however, sometimes problems develop. That is one of several reasons why a fresh clean install is the preferred method.

some clone software could do this. aomei backup standard edition is free and will meet your need. I wonder your 500GB is full or not? how many partitions? you can try to clone partition or disk with the software
