Im going to buy a pc next month. What can you recommend ? Mostly i will be using my new pc for gaming and the usual stuff, possibly some basic editing recorded videos etc, nothing major though. Im from england and i will be buying stuff in pounds. Im looking for the best parts possible with a good enough mobo with quality onboard audio so i dont have to buy sound card. But my major issue is:
4770k vs 4670k
780ti vs 780
My budget is ~1200 pounds.

Does anyone have any ideas? What would be the best choice for me? Do i need an ssd? If yes how big, i only would use it for one game and windows. Ive been behind with all the new parts and i managed to read a bit about cpus and gpus but i dont know much about the rest.

Yes, but nothing major. I know that it has to be a z87 mobo, but i would really like to get one with good onboard audio.

4670K, Asus Z87-A, 16GB 2x8, 1866/8 DRAM, a 256 EVO SSD, a 1TB WD Blue, case, 780 or 780TI after you go monitor, keyboard, mouse, case etc of your choice and a PSU that will matchup

Thanks tradesman1. This is what ive got at the moment: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/3GANf
Im still not sure about the motherboard. Ive looked at the one you recommended and it looks like a good enough one for my needs but in the first review i read that it has got older audio codec. Ive read a bit more about mobos around the same price with more or less the same extras but with new realtek alc1150, and this is what ive got at the moment:
Asrock z87 extreme4, extreme6
Asus z87-pro, vi maximus hero
Msi z87 gd65 gaming, g45 gaming
Which one would you recommend?
Also i havent decided on the case, but thats not the biggest of my concerns. What do you think about wifi ive picked, and ram as well, is it a good brand? What do you think overall?

How many monitors will you run? If not more than 1 I would go with the gtx 770 personally.
I think 16 gb of ram is good for editing, especially heavy editing. You could get 8gb then another 8 later to see if you need it.
Also check with asus since the H87 may still be able to overclock, and its a great price.
Out of your motherboard the z 87 extreme 4 is good, don;t know about audio.

Of the ones you are showing the easiest choice for me is the Hero (and either the Z87 Hero or go with the new model, the Z97 Hero (better OCing, heat dissipation, and ready for the refresh CPU and in the future Broadwell (have mine on the way ;)  ) I did 20 Haswell builds before deciding on the Hero for my 4770K build

Why would you overpay so much for overclocking. He is not majorly overclocking.

May not even OC at all initially, but most of my clients go with good quality mobos and K CPPUs so that down the road they can simply OC rather than look at a new mobo and CPU, it makes sense, and it's why many do it...The H87s are for OCing as you suggest, which is sort of a waste of a K CPU and would have to be replaced if one wanted to go with a good OC, also best to get the full amount of DRAM you want all at once, not 'ADD' DRAM later, anytime you mix packages of DRAM it can be and often is problematic, the memory area is full of people wanting to know why their DRAM isn't working, they did what many have suggested (as you are doing) and the DRAM isn't playing together, DRAM is sold in a wide variety of packaged sets to cover most any amount you want - the sticks in each pack are tested to work together as a set and the XMP programming in them (for sticks 1600 and higher anyway) is done for the set...when you look at a 4 stick set, it may take a advanced timing for the tRFC od 378 while a 2 stick set only takes 208. That's also why 2 two sticks sets often cost less than a 4 stick set, it's easier to find 2 sticks that play well for a package than it does to put together a 4 stick set, hence the higher price

Thanks for the replies. I think i will go for 8gb of ram as im not planning to do any heavy editing. Im only going to record gameplays, then edit a video a bit, add some basic graphics and music, if you know what i mean. And then obviously upload it, nothing major though. As for the motherboard, hero seems to be a great motherboard and z97 are coming out tomorrow but i will have to wait to see its price. Surely it looks 'handsome' and its a joy to look at it. Overclocking- i want to overclock without any problems and lets say im planning to go up to 4.0-4.2 and both the extreme 4 and hero can handle it. Asrock is cheaper and im sure it would be enough for my needs(it has got the new realtek codec same as all of the ones i listed above). Its hard for me to decide, because i want to build a really good pc and then dont regret that i could have spent that 20-30pounds more for a better component.
Do you know any case with good airflow, that has got at least 3-4 fans, possibly a fan with led light? Im looking for a fancy case (not black) so it will look cool in my room. Imagine for example a white case with some red light on the fan going onto asus hero which has red bits on it, red ram sticks etc :)
Gpu- i will be using my 1080p tv for now but i will definately buy a 1440p screen around july-august time. So i think 780 is the minimum what i should get.

Cases are pretty much a personal thing, 780 would be a good choice, almost forgot the Hero has the ROG audio (enhanced 1150 chipset) so I didn't find a need for a sound card with it

I think you should get a 770 for 1440p or below on one monitor. Also i think that you should get the gpu last, since prices fluctuate so much. Good idea to wait for the z79 motherboards. Tradesmens, what your opinion on the H87 fatality motherboard.

What do you think? What do you think about the case and wifi? Maybe you know a better wifi device.
Ive got 780ti there, because its still in my budget.

Im digging the phantom. Why do you not want an ethernet cable. I understand the pros and cons of each, but max performance should have max internet speed. Also how many monitors are you running.
BTW are there any educational discounts available to you for an os.

Im going to use wifi, the hub will be around 2-3meters from the pc. What is the best wifi adapter? What do you think about the usb ones? What do you mean by educational discount?

I will be using my 1080p tv for 2-3months and then im planning to buy a single 1440p monitor.

I think the 770 would fill that role easily, but maybe thats just me. I would ask someone with more experience on that though, since i dont own a 770.

I will be playing dayz standalone mostly. Also i want to try bf4 and im waiting for the division, new fallout and mass effect, and by the time those games will be released im going to have 1440p monitor and from what ive seen 770 at 1440p does only ok with crysis3 and 770, while 780 and 780ti fly through them.

Good point. I guess you are right. Are you sure that is one monitor 1440p.
Also tradesmen I have heard if the patch was actually sent for asus's h87, but it seems like it was. A shame for a nice cheap overclocking board to be stopped though.

Although this is interesting
"Alrighty guys i finally OC'D my cpu to 4.2 GHZ. I downgraded the mobo version and setup the oc settings and it worked!. Thanks for your help guys. "

I would wait for the z79 though still.

It was most all the H87s, and believe another chipset had the hole also...ASRock was the first to find it, and actually may have been a good thing, the caps and all on the lower end chipset mobos aren't really up to OCing and may well have resulted in people blowing mobos up and getting hurt

I will stick to z87 mobos. Maybe z97 if the prices will be in my range. Im definately getting a 1440p screen, maybe a 2k one, it all depends how much money i will be willing to spend. For dayz a gtx760 would be enough but as i said i want to try new games too. I looked at the reviews of the asus n-series usb wifis and they seem to be good as well.
