I had ubuntu 12.04 pre installed on my Hp ProBook 445 G1. I wanted to install Windows 7 over ubuntu. So i went ahead with a bootable USB. Now in the process of installation I deleted Partitions (3 in total) and Formatted them. then did the installation. but just as the laptop restarts after initial installation, the screen goes black with unlimited white Dash or underscore everywhere. Nothing goes beyond this. My friend has the same Laptop and has done it correctly. I think i messed it up somewhere. :'( I deleted one partition 6 which was of 1.9 GB and i think had something... Please help me guys. It has been giving me sleepless nights :(

Best bet make a DBAN CD and wipe all the drives should resolve it. Now the trick is, if you're trying to install Windows 7, not Windows 7 SP1 on a UEFI not BIOS system it will fail, also if the drive itself is 4K designed not the legacy 512K segment. Nothing before W7SP1 can work with UEFI/4K .

That said I would also look at HP support website and see if they have any FAQ on installing Windows 7 on it.
