well, the 770 is a hair faster, but the 280x has more vram and is usually cheaper. if you are on a tight budget, or use multiple monitors to game on, take the 280x. if you only use 1 monitor for gaming (if you even do game) then take the 770.

770 performs a bit better for the same price as the 280x
770 is a revved up 680. 280x is the old 7970. Both are old technology. So neither will have a long life.
For GTX - try the new GK110 gpu powered cards - 780/ti. They'll have a bit more future.
For AMD try the 290/X.

but in my country(philippines) 280x is a bit cheaper than 770 about $50. and the 780 is around $620.
so im not sure if its worth buying the 780 without sacrificing something.
