I'm going to have a H100i 120mm (240mm) at the top of my case cooling my CPU. I was wondering if I can switch the stock corsair fans to these NZXT LED fans. You cant see the LED fans from the other side of the radiator but the fans will light up my mobo pretty nicely. I was just wondering if this would affect the performance of the CPU cooler. Also I hear the corsair fans are loud as heck.

Solution

Generally, you can use static pressure fans any where in the case but people tend to prefer using them only on radiators.

Yes, you can use one 140mm led fan at the front pushing fresh air inside.
one 120mm fan on the bottom pushing fresh air inside.
one 120mm fan on the rear pushing hot air outside of the case
two jetflows on the top pulling hot air from inside the case and sending...
I'm using 5 Corsair SP 120 fans and I've no complain of their loudness. Rather, whenever I walk into my PC room, it is near to silent not giving any impression as if it is powered on and working (while PC is on 24/7 except during power outage)

Next you can mount LED fans on the rad but pl ensure that while selecting led fan, it should be static pressure fan so that cooling performance is not compromised and your requirement of lighting is achieved as well.

Wow, those are nice. So to summarize my cooling setup for my case... I'm going to be putting one LED 140mm fan on the front (not static? its blowing at the drives), one 120mm on the underside(not static? its pointing sorta towards gpu), one 120mm on the rear (not static?), and two Jetflos on the top?
Do these fans add a lot of wattage? Using a HX650

Do check on youtube the noise level of jetflows.

Solution
for your fans setup in your case positive air pressure is best more intake than exhaust fans , this will reduce dust buildup in your case
the setup you mentioned will be fine but i would make the rear 120 an intake to draw air into the case for your radiator because you are not using an air cooler that needs to exhaust out the rear of the case and that will give you positive air pressure and draw air into your radiator fans rather than away from them

Hmmm. I'm using the Phantom 410 case. There is an optional internal fan mount right behind the gpu which I can angle towards it and the cpu to get more airflow going upwards-ish. Should I really use the rear 120mm fan as an intake?

Thanks guys! One more question!!! Sorry! I'm going to be using TX-4 TIM instead of whatever is on the cooler. Do I need to apply it to the processor and the cooler head? Or just the cooler head?

Oh, and I just read that the SP120L that come stock with the H100i are 2700rpm. Jesus. if I replaced the stock radiator fans with the 120mm Jetflos, wouldnt I be severely underpowering my cooler?

Just apply the thermal paste/compound on the top of CPU.

Stock fans have 2700 rpm with 77 cfm.
JetFlow fans have 1600 rpm with 95 CFM.

It is the CFM which matters. Compare them both and see which is better.

You are not throwing away your stock fans. Aren't you? :) Just kidding. After installing jetflows, keep a tab on your CPU's temps, if you think temp is high, you can always switch back to stock fans.

You can search for more options out there.

Why don't you just stick with SP-120 fans and use their red color bands to color match the theme of the build and use LED lighting as a solution for lighting inside the case

Thanks guys! I hate forums with a passion (only been on gaming forums) but Tomshardware gives me a stiffy. Very helpful... All of you. My case comes with two 120mm and one 140mm stock.
I'm going to be using a
140mm NZXT orange LED for the front (intake)
120mm x2 Jetflos white LED for the radiator (exhaust)
the stock 120mm will go in the rear (exhaust)
the stock 120mm on the underside (intake)
the stock 140mm on the side (intake????)

I'm going to keep the Corsair stock SP120L fans on hand in case I ever want to add the internal fan or if a fan breaks down. Thanks guy!

No need for side intake.
