I have a new laptop with windows 8 and want to activate my office 2007 but when I put in the key the reply is that I don`t have office 2013. what now

Presumably you installed Office from a disk which asked for a Product Key? Should just go ahead and install if that's the case. However, if your Laptop came with a pre-installed 2013 version then your 2007 Product Key will not be accepted. You'll have to uninstall the 2013 version and install your own 2007....

as far as I know the laptop does not have a pre installed version of office 2013

Office would appear on your Start Screen if installed, to make sure simply type 'Office' at the Start Screen and if it's on your machine then it will be found. Laptop Manufacturers often include a trial version of Office which you ultimately have to pay for. Sometimes a Lite version is provided free of charge. Otherwise if you have Office 2007 on an installation disk just install.
