Which casual-use laptop should i get?

Hi all!
I'm looking to get a new laptop for casual/everyday use - mainly internet surfing, office, and maybe some casual gaming and a bit of photo editing.
I'm inclined towards a 13"-14" screen, and would not like to invest more than 900-950 dollars.

I personally like Lenovo and Asus laptops (and kind of dislike Dell), but am seriously willing to consider everything

The laptop should be portable and have at least 500GB storage, and i'd love for it to last 2-4 years.

Is this request realistic? What should i get?

Maybe I'm just stating what might be already obvious to everyone else but I'm trying to share my experience. Just bought a new laptop for my mom (core i7 Toshiba for $699) and the one thing that I'm absolutely sold on is the TOUCHSCREEN. Having used it for only a few hours, I wouldn't even consider any laptop that doesn't have one! Hope you find something that's a great fit for you!
