Will there be a difference between the two in terms of gaming? The reason I cannot decide which one to get is because if I choose the 4430, then I could get a cheaper motherboard. If I choose the 4670K, then I need to get a Z87 chipset motherboard and an aftermarket cooler. I do have budget to get one of them, but money is a big deal for me. So, will there be a SIGNIFICANT difference in gaming when I choose the 4670K over the 4430? Thank you in advance.

Oveclocking.. thats the great difference between them. For gaming its okay to go for the non unlocked processor, ofcourse if you wont overclock.

Invest more on the GPU and get a well reviewed power supply. An 8gb 1600mhz ram is enough, and a solid 1tb hard disk.

But even if your not overclocking a solid aftermarket cooler like the hyper evo 212 will definitely help.

4430 = 112.30
4770k = 121.80

The 4670k will be very close to the 4770k.

The above is of course at stock speeds, the advantage of the k processors being that they can be overclocked. For the $50 price difference, which oft disappears in many combos, I wouldn't bother going less than the 4670k.

Cheaper MoBos, to my mind, are often again, not worth the savings.

For example, this combo eats $32 of the $50 price difference.

You don't have to go with a Z87 if you get a i5 4670K, however if you want to overclock you'll probably want a Z87. You also don't need an aftermarket cooler right away either (as long as you don't overclock), you could pick one up down the road when you can afford it. Speaking of affordable the Hyper 212+ EVO is an excellent aftermarket cooler for the price.

As for there being a significant difference, at stock, not really. The 4430 only has a 300MHz clock deficit compared to the 4670. However you'll have no option to overclock with the 4430 and most Haswell's will do another 400MHz above stock easily which makes the deficit 700MHz or more.

So for further future proofing (I really hate that term), the 4670K is the way to go, but you pay for that benefit.
