I have a PNY GTX 760 and I think it may be under performing as in Battlefield 4 on the High preset I get around 70 FPS in open area but I can dip down to about 40 FPS in crowded areas.(I'm playing at 1600x900 resolution).
I think this might be because of my CPU which is an FX4100 running at 4 GHz as I heard it has a tight bottleneck because as far as i'm concerned the 760 should run BF4 on Ultra at 1080p at around 40-50 FPS.
If so does anybody know which AM3+ CPU it would be best to upgrade to?

the 760 should average around 40fps on ultra at 1600x900... not sure where you're getting your info, but at 1080p ultra it'd average like 30 fps.

The easiest way to solve your own issue is to download MSI afterburner beta... and turn on the monitoring for GPU % usage, and CPU % usage.

one of those things will be running at 100%... whichever it is, that's whats bottlenecking you.
I'd guess the GPU is running at 100%, and your CPU cores are probably around 80%... I'd apply some overclock to the GPU, and that should balance you out to get the most out of your GPU and CPU in that game.

I would say its the CPU. The bulldozer(x1xx series) cpu's are notoriously poor gamers. I would suggest upgrading to atleast a FX-6300.

The fx 4100 uses the bulldozer architecture.
