says it only supports 3rd gen, will it still work?

no, 4th gen intel cpus have a different socket, 1150, so it will not work.

no 4th gen support. moreover, 4th gen haswell core i cpus use lga1150 socket while that motherboard uses lga1155 socket, making the cpus incompatible.
