Hi, I was debating whether to post this here on on the Minecraft forums, but I thought I would get better tech-breakdowns here. So, i'm hosting a 24/7 Minecraft server for me and 20 or so friends (about 15 on at a time), and I'm building a new computer. Now I am wondering if my personal computer (pic 1) would fair better in hosting the server than the current server (pic 2).
(Note: In pic two, the computer is listed with 1.75 gb of ram. This is wrong, it actually has 3 gb installed and working, the task manager confirms it.)
(Also, my personal computer has Vista currently, but if i were to use it as the server, I would put XP on it instead).
And i'm not going to switch either computers over to Linux or anything else, even though it may work better, because I have tried numerous times to install it, and failed all of them. Also, I prefer XP.
Thanks!

Both of those will be pretty okay to run on a small server with mostly 15-20 people in it , but to increase performance pick the first one and increase the ram of it to about 4gb , other than that would be fine..

If you're thinking on hosting a server you really need to allocate enough ram to the server , and if you have 2gb or 3gb of ram , its not gonna cut it , I recommend getting 4gb ram and allocate 2048mb of ram to the servers.

Yeah both of those are pretty terrible options, neither of them support more than 4gbs of ram, and minecraft is an extremely ram and CPU heavy game.

You want a 64bit computer with 8-12 gbs of ram for a minecraft server.
