keyboard not working after login

Hi I have a new Toshiba notebook with windows 8 and all of a sudden my keyboard doesn't work. That is - it works for logging in, but as soon as I have typed in my password and come on to the start side it doesn't work anymore. I can work with the mouse and monitor keyboard but the laptop keyboard is out. Does anyone have any idea!

Gotsaed - THANK YOU for posting this solution! My wife had this happen on her Windows 10 machine (work from home job) and your post was spot on!
