when buying a new computer, what hardware can be used for both personal and a consulting business?

I am buying a new computer both for personal use and for operating my consulting business, which runs out of my home. I am undecided about what hardware, software peripheral devices and services to purchase in order to meet my needs. can I get some help please?

If all you do is office documents and web browsing then you can pretty much get anything within your budget.

However if you do computational work for your consulting and/or non-web based gaming for personal use then the requirements will be different.
