ok every now and again when i turn the pc on it starts to run but no signal ever gets sent to the monitor.

if i turn it all off and power back up but hold down delete so it will enter the bios it does so with a signal and i can boot from the drive manually and every thing is fine.

computer has only been set up for a day all mobo drivers/chipset drivers/nvidia drivers have been installed.

any info on what could be causing this?

Solution
It could be a few things,
1. check the cable for any damage
2. The HDMI port is damaged and is unable to find any connected devices until the BIOS enables it anyway.
3. BIOS glitch

First check the cable for any damage but if that's not the cause then try browsing around your BIOS for "Reset" or your motherboard may have a "CLEAR CMOS" button, if it does hold that down whilst the machine is running.
Hope this help!
