I have read most of the post with the same complaint, no sound while using realtek HD onboard sound. I need help!
I have a MSI NF750-G55 mobo with the realtek HD built in.
I have no detection of speakers or headphones being plugged in.
and it says that the output at this time is thru s/pdif digital, I do not have any digital ports hooked up or installed.
If I plug a HDMI cable in to my graphics card I can get sound on my TV
I have tried all the suggestions from other users such as unchecking the detection box under the analog tab of the realtek manager and have tried changing all the setting of front and back jacks being used at the same time.
It always tells me nothing is plugged in and that the digital is the default playback method.
It never senses the speakers or headphone being plugged in.
This all started after a windows update rebooted the system.
I have tried rolling the system back to when everything was working but that didn't work either.
SO here you go, all you wizards of audio. give me a shout and see if we can fix this one lol.
I have tried everything I can think of.

Solution
hdmi will come off the graphics card.

Try Control Panel, Device Manager and check if The Reatek device is working ok and if drivers are up to date.

If that's OK, try a CheckDisk.

If that doesn't work, try a System Restore.

If that doesn't work, try a Windows re-install.

I have tried all of those suggestions and nothing has worked. I even did a complete wipe of the hard drive and a fresh installation of windows 7 64 bit.
I ran all the drivers from the mobo's disk. And still cant even get the realtek manager to even see me plug anything in. As for the sound devise itself, it says that everything is working fine.
You would think that with the fresh install of all drivers that it would work. I will keep looking for answers. I am not the only one having this problem, I have found many others reporting the same issue here at toms and on other forums on the net.
For now I put a sound card in my sons computer until we figure this out or I build a new system for him. This way at least he will be able to use his computer.
I'm going to keep trying.
