I wanted to buy a big monitor without having to have two so I picked a 29 inch Asus and to power it a GTX 780. I was just wondering if it is hard or just stupid to have a monitor this big, or if it's just not ideal. Any feedback is great. Thanks!

Nothing wrong with that at all. It's not like it's 4 k or anything so your card should do fine.

Not recommended.

This is a WIDE monitor. It is wider than 16x9 which is the standard now. This means any game or video that's set to 16x9 (i.e. 1920x1080) will have BLACK BARS on the left and right.

THIS is a much better idea:

It's 2560x1440 (not 2560x1080) and though it's 27" probably has more square area.

GAMING: For demanding games I recommend dropping to 1920x1080 (like Crysis 3, Metro 2033/LL etc). In general, if you can't maintain 60FPS at max settings at 2560x1440, then drop to 1920x1080.

2560x1440 looks really awesome for top-down, "god" games like Starcraft 2, CIV5 etc.

Most PC games are designed to work with 16:10 as well as 16:9, so they usually just make it work with everything.
