Hello folks,

I have a computer with a Core 2 Duo E6300, an old dell motherboard, and an Radeon HD 5850. I want to upgrade to a newer processor i5 (4670K) or i7 (4770K). I was planning to buy an asrock extreme4 to go with the processor. I have 8GB DDR3-1600 already which I plan to keep. Currently I have a Corsair CX430 power supply and my system runs without issue. Do I need to upgrade my power supply?

Thanks.

No these are not good power supplies and if you're using any Intel CPU with any GPU they won't power a rig, and I've seen multiple of these units fail on me, and I've seen at least one or two short out on me. You want at least a Seasonic G series or a XFX Pro series. Those are far better 450W units in the same price range.

If you're running integrated graphics you could get away with it, but I've had at least three CX430s replaced and finally went with a Seasonic S12 430W and have been problem free ever since. It's not the wattage, it's the build quality of the unit itself. The XFX Pro 450W and Seasonic G450W are far better units for a slight difference in price.
