Router: Comcast's modem/router combo (I think they call it AnyPlay)
MoBo: Asus 970 Xtreme 3
Power Supply: Unsure but was at least bronze certified
Connection: Comcast high speed internet
OS: Windows 8 (8.1 when the connection lasts long enough to update)

My brother is having an interesting problem: A couple days ago he told me his wireless kept dropping out. I couldn't find any problems so I switched out his network card (PCI) with another one that I knew was working. It seemed to solve the problem, but after a day or so he called back again with the same problem. I had a realtek usb wifi adapter that I had been using on my rig for some time and knew that it worked perfectly, so I took it over there and plugged it in. It again immediately solved the problem and he could connect and had good down/up speed, but again only lasted a day until it would drop connection after a few seconds, and when it would connect, only ran a 100kb or so down.

I have tried wiping the drives and running a clean install and installing old drivers with no success.

Does anybody have any idea what could be wrong? My only idea is that the motherboard is having issues. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I don't think it is a router issue. There are many other computers on the network having no problem at all.

I have tested 2 of the adapters on other systems and confirmed that they are working. The rest of the computer is working fine, (it can play games offline just fine so the cpu and gpu seem to be getting enough power, I dont remember how many power connectors the motherboard has, I could try connecting a different connector to it.

it could be also a issue with the motherboard since you use pci or usb adaptor and they work on the other system as they should so you need to test psu and mobo . the other thing for thos pci one could you try in another slot on that motherboard do the same with the usb one .
