I have an asus rt-n66u wireless router, and it is working great. But I want to extend the range out onto our deck. I have an Ethernet wire running from the asus to the garage where I would like to install an access point from Ubiquiti. Do I need to disable the wireless function of the asus to make this work? Can I just assign the same ssid and password to the asus router and the AP? Thanks

Solution
use the same ssid and passphrase as the Asus.

As long as the access point is set as an access point it will just pass the settings to the connected clients and w/ the same ssid your users will not know the difference.
