Help selecting new motherboard

I need help deciding between a Gigabyte GA-G41M-COMBO SKT-775 Motherboard (Rev 2.0) or a Asrock G41M-VS3 R2.0 Micro-ATX MotherBoard (Socket 775, 1333FSB).
Both are 775 socket which is what I need and both take ddr3 ram.
I have a intel core 2 duo cpu which both take.
I will be buying a asus gtx 750 1gb graphics card as well as I am upgrading my old pc so I can play games.
I don't have a massive budget that's why I was going with these mobo and gpu.
Any idea which motherboard will be better ?

Hi gazmister2004
I would choose the asrock G41M-VS3 R2.0
the gigabyte board supports dual channel ddr2 and dual channel ddr3
the asrock board supports ddr3 only
both support ddr3 memory speeds up to 1333mhz max 8gb
the gigabyte board supports ddr2 speeds up to 1066mhz
so not much diff in memory speeds or capacity with ddr3
there is not a great deal between these boards , both have the same chipsets northbridge and southbridge
both support same cpu's with FSB up to 1333mhz
The reason i would chose the asrock is for three reasons
1. the sata ports come off the bottom of the asrock board allowing for neater cable management whereas the gigabyte sata ports are well inside the mobo
and can cause issues with long pci cards but generally just make cables look untidy
2. the two memory slots rather than the gigabyte's 4 leave more room for a bigger cpu cooler
3. Asrocks features ,
Xfast ram allows you to create a ram disk for all your caches files making windows os perform faster as well as faster browsing
and also reduces space taken up on an ssd by these cache files and makes programs like photoshop perform much faster
xfast LAN increases you internet speed
xfast usb turbo speeds HDD's , SSD's and usb drives

Ok thanks .i am looking on amazon.co.uk for ram with this mobo but there is so many ,which one would u suggest 8tb 2x4

yes 8gb will be fine 2x4gb
i would choose DDR3 1066mhz 240pin with a low cas latency
your asrock board will support this natively
i would suggest ram from gskill/corsair/mushkin/kingston they are all reputable brands with a lifetime warranty

choosing a card for gaming depends on a few things
weather your psu will have enough power to drive the card
weather the card will fit inside your case
your budget
with the platform lga775 and the board you are using the 750 will be ok
i would suggest

this has good cooling and will fit in almost any case

Once I have my new motherboard is it as simple as putting it in place and plugging everything in.
Or is there something I should be aware of first ?

Its easy. Be careful putting the cpu in place. Then attach the ram and cpu cooler. then mount the motherboard in the case and plug in all the connectors.

if you are unsure on anything , youtube is your friend
if you want to know how to install a cpu look it up on youtube, watch a video of how to do it
how to put in graphics card ,connect cpu , install motherboard etc etc watch and learn , its not rocket science but watching someone else do it might save some heartache and guesswork
