AT2020 XLR How does it Work?

the xlr types need a 48v phantom power to work. typically you would be using an audio interface with it but those are expensive. it looks like this guy got it working with a phantom power supply though (read the thread)

honestly though if possible i would just return the xlr and get the usb version. if you wanted a headphone jack to listen to yourself while recording then you need the plus version (at2020usbplus). another possible mic to look at is the atr2500 which is similar to the 2020 but cheaper.

i'm sorry but they require 48v phantom power. quite simply if you dont have it then it wont work.

this requires either an audio interface or a phantom power supply like the OP in that thread looks to have used. if you read the end of the thread it appears that he got it working.

i know that you have already bought it. i said that perhaps you could return it or exchange it for the usb model.

your choice.
