Hi I am new to this, and first time posting on here.

I have a simple question.

I've recently built my new computer...

Specs:

CPU: Intel i7 4770k (Socket 1150)
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VI Hero
Ram: GSKILL Trident 16gb 2333MHZ
SSD: 120GB (OS Running of this)
HDD: 2TB
PSU: 750W Corsair
GPU: Evga 780ti Classified ACX 3GB DDR5
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit

I ran a few games for testing purposes, just to see how my computer handles it.

Games Tested:
Dark Souls 2 & FarCry 3

I had both running on ULTRA very high etc....

Dark Souls 2 ran with no issues or difficulties however FC3 felt almost
a bit laggy but nothing serious.

The only reason I posted a thread was because when i connected my GPU into my tower I had issues putting the side cover on as the two 8 pin connectors were getting in the way.... so I took these out and put in 8pin to 6pin connectors supplied by the GPU and connected the other 6 pin end to the PSU's 6 pin........(Hope that makes sense)

I was just wondering whether this would affect my GPU'S performance or not, as I expected my Graphics card to walk through all the latest titles without any difficulties bearing in mind the rest of my components are also somewhat the latest.

Or is it something else that could be causing issues.

Any help or advise would be appreciated.

Solution

Hi. The somple answer is, if that card requires two 8 pin PCIe connevtors, then you best have two 8 Pin Connectors plugged in. You will not be getting enough power to the card otherwise. One game probably doesn't stress the card as much as the other and the reason you are noticing that.
