I have a FX-6300 with a MSI 970A-G46 motherboard and a Evo 212 currently running with all the CPU settings set to auto. I would like to overclock it slightly, but I have a few questions.

Here are the stock settings for the CPU as far as I know:
Max Turbo: 4100 MHz, 1.425v
Turbo: 3800 MHz, 1.4125v
Default: 3500 MHz, 1.350v
Low 1: 3000 MHz, 1.225v
Low 2: 2500 MHz, 1.125v
Low 3: 2000 MHz, 1.025v
Low 4: 1400 MHz, 0.9v

The first thing I wanted to do was set the CPU to its default settings as opposed to auto (before I wanted to overclock), just because. First issue I ran into was 1.350v is not in the voltage settings, closest is 1.357v, would setting it to that be okay? Second, while I can control the clock speed for turbo, I can't choose the voltage for the turbos, is this just handled automatically? Third, I have no option for controlling the low power state speeds and voltages, is this not something I can control? Finally, to the actual overclocking, I would like to set my speed to 3800 MHz, with turbo at 4000 MHz and max turbo at 4100 MHz. What would be the best voltage for 3800 MHz and what should / can I do about the turbo voltage?

The G43 , G45 , G46 should not be overclocked on due to their poor thermal design.

Damge to other components could occur , the 212 will help with cooling , but don't overclock.

That sucks, I would not have got this board if I knew that. I am still curious about the voltage though, I would like to set my processor to the actual stock numbers instead of just auto, kind of an OCD thing.

I would just leave it as is , till you get a better board.

Have any recommendations in the $150 to $200 range?
