Hello guys.

Got a few new parts in last night and after reassembling, I get no video display, no boot screen, and no beeps, but I can't seem to find a speaker on my mobo.
I've worked through the no POST and no video checklists and still nothing. I've even stripped this thing down to sitting on a piece of cardboard, nothing hooked up but the cpu, heatsink, and old video card (no on-board). Slightly freaking out, as my old configuration doesn't even seem to work any more. Concerned I shorted something even though I took precautions.

The parts:
Asus M5A97 Board (Old)
AMD FX6300 (New)
AMD Phenom2 Black (Old)
G-Skill Ripjaws 2x4GB (New)
PNY 2x2GB RAM (Old)
HIS R9 280x (New)
XFX HD 6770 (Old)
Corsair CX500 (Old)
I also tried a 650w psu of a lesser brand.
I have tried nearly every possible combination of those parts.
Note that I'm not trying to combine those RAM modules, just that neither set seems to have any effect on my issue, and I've tried with only a single stick in every different slot.
My BIOS seems to be up to date for the new CPU, I think I'm running version 2039, if it is indeed the last four digits on the sticker at the 24pin connector as I read somewhere.

I've nearly convinced myself I shorted my board, and if anyone agrees I'll probably just upgrade to a newer one, and will be open to suggestions on that. Never cared for on-board video but after this little conundrum I think I'm a believer.

I can't think of any more details at the moment... Also, I'm having to type this up on my phone, (all those acronyms were hell with autocorrect) and have never actually posted a question here, so hopefully I can find this in a bit to check for responses, and aren't just throwing this out into the void. I didn't even have to sign up to post or anything. Strange.

Well, thanks in advance, fellow nerds!

Solution
I can assure you the latest BIOS for the Asus M5A97 is not version 2039. Are you sure you have M5A97 and not M5A97 R2.0 or M5A97 LE R2.0?

You may want to reinstall the Phenom2 Black and check the BIOS version you have. Flash to the latest BIOS version 1605.
