Building a Medium Gaming machine

hello fellows I am planning to build a medium level gaming pc that can run games at no more that 1440x900 res.
I choose the following stuff:
Mother Board:Gigabyte H61M-DS2
Processor:Intel® Core™ i3-2120 Processor
(3M Cache, 3.30 GHz)
Ram:6 GB
Graphics Card:7770 HD
Will this PC play games with mentioned res on medium to high ?
I am looking at watchdogs , gta v if it releases gta 4, AC BlackFlag , NFS Rivals ,Splintercell Blacklist and all thee upcoming games :P I have already maxed out my budget just asking will it play or not ? :P

  1. In some games you might find you have to tone down to low settings. like AC Black Flag as it has bad optimization with AMD cards. I suspect Wacthdog will be the same as it is "Nvidia" featured.
  2. Yeah. dont mix and match ram though. 4g is fine if you are on a budget.
  3. What is your max budget, that CPU isn't going to run much, and it's quite a weak motherboard. this build can't run on 1440p on high settings. maybe low with no AA and 720p/1080p but with bad FPS.
  4. thanks for the reply fellows . This setup will cost me 35000RS as I live in Pakistan but I can wait a month or two (Which i dont want to) and Get an i7 Instead other things remaing constant what do guys think about that? My monitor is DellUltraSharp which is why i am not going to be playing at other res than that :P

It is actually running at 900p. i think it is 19 inches monitor
  6. Bro not 1440p but 1400x900 its very low res :P
  7. PS I dont want the fancy stuff as ultra and AA things, Medium settings is fine for me as long as it dosnt lag
  8. My budget is 350$ I already have 4gb Ram , Case and Hardrive .
  9. One more thing is Xbox wired controller good ?
  10. UPDATE : Intel® Core™ i7-870 Processor (8M Cache, 2.93 GHz) is it okay?

Its older, so I'd recomend a newer I5 or I3 but if it only works with your Mb it should run fine and not bottleneck a HD 7770. Also if you can wait a couple days my friend has a PC with a HD 7770 and I3 3320 with a 900p monitor so I will ask him to test out some games for you.
  12. You don;t need an i7 for gaming. An i5 is perfectly fine for now. An i3 won't bottleneck a HD7770 but will begin to bottleneck for higher end cards.
  13. yeah tanks alot man I just installed NFS Rivals and it works like a dream 1440x900 with 60 constant fps and 45+ fps with 1080p not sure why other people sasy it wont work .PS i got the i3 :P thanks alot

    Np
  15. yep . Just installed GTA Episodes from liberty city , all maxed out with good fps.So far so good
  16. People here the term "i3" and they assume it's bad. In reality, the i3-2120 trades blows with an FX-6300 in many circumstances, losing under full load but winning in core per core performance and many older games, as well as a few newer games.\

Having 6 cores does not make the FX-6300 good, and having 2 cores does not make an i3 bad. They're different methods of optimization that perform better in different situations.
  17. I have used Core2Duo E8400 3.0 Ghz since last year and cant say its much different in day to day task as my friends core 2 quad .You are complete right on this one , higher cores just for multitasking ps who plays games while browsing :P i3 is more than enough

The only game that really benefits with more cores is Crysis 3. But I heard the community has died on that game.

That's not the only game, but one of the few that benefits from 6+.
Several games optimize for 4, but most dual cores are still strong enough.
  20. Yep dual cores are still good :P fyi playing Episodes from Liberty city on max 720p on i3 and 7790 working perfectly
