Got a new pc last week. I've just tried connecting it to my projector using a hdmi cable and its not working, projector just says no signal. I know there is nothing wrong with the cable as it works with my laptop. Its hdmi version 1.4 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005OS4NHE/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_dp_1)

The graphics card is a GeForce GTX 750 Ti. If anyone has any ideas I'd be delighted to try them

Solution

Yes, to the first question, it should just work if it is the only thing hooked...
Are you using the projector via HDMI as the only display or trying to use the projector as a second display while Windows is also showing up on your main monitor? If the latter than you may need to configure multiple monitors using the NVIDA control panel.

Right now I'd be happy with either. If I'm trying to use it as the only display it should just work by connecting both devices right?

If I'm trying to use it as a second display how do I set this up in the NVidia control panel. In there I can see the tasks on the left and there is a Setup Multiple Displays, but the only device which is available to be selected there is my acer monitor

Edit: I just realised that my monitor had a hdmi port. I've been using a DVI cable to connect it. When I use hdmi it doesn't work!

Old: That's a good question but I'm not in a position to try that out. The only other device in the house with a HDMI port is my laptop

Yes, to the first question, it should just work if it is the only thing hooked up. If the NVIDIA panel only sees the Acer then nothing is getting detected on HDMI, you can hit the button to force it to re-detect but good chance that won't do anything - HDMI is a bit flaky, sometimes it takes several tries hooking and unhooking and turning the display on and off and if one HDMI cable isn't working then try another.
