It's not better or worse, just different. Personally I would buy 2 1TB drives so that important data I can copy on to both the drives in case one dies then the important stuff is on the other drive. Bot neither way has any clear advantage over the other, more of just a personal preference.

Well I was thinking a 250 GB 840 evo SSD for a couple games and OS then a caviar blue 1 TB but would I need more space for gaming?

That all depends on what games you want and how large they are.
The 250GB EVO is a good choice for the OS and application drive.

Well I don't usually keep a ton of games on my pc but I'd probably have a couple high end ones like Wildstar when it comes out and battlefield 4, titanfall, etc.
