Yesterday i have recieved my gtx 770 overclocked edition in the mail. Since i have installed it, i cannot get more than 40fps on battlefield 4 even on medium settings. I have read that people are getting over 50 fps on ultra settings.
These are my specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.39 GHz
8Gb RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Well I guess the only thing left is to try and reinstall Windows.

If you had a spare hard drive/SSD you could save yourself some trouble and just unplug the drives you are using at the moment and only plug the spare drive. Install Windows, all drivers needed and BF4. If things get significantly better than you would know that fault lies in your original Windows installation and you could consider reinstalling it. But if things don't improve at all then you could just re-plug your old drives and have your system the way you left it.

Weird, I get more than 55 always on single player (asus model), but mine is overclocked way beyond what comes from factory "overclock". I think before the overclock, I used to get 43+ on single player (43 here is really the lowest I recall seeing).

Yeah i was looking for at least 50fps even on medium but i wonder why it wont go over 70% gpu usage while im ingame. I feel as something is holding it back but i just cant seem to figure it out.

What I said stands for 1920x1080 all maxed out. If you're not getting 50 fps, even on medium, something is damn wrong. Try in another computer and see what happens. If not possible, what's your power supply model? I really don't think it to be a cpu bottleneck.

Hey,

download http://www.guru3d.com/files_details/display_driver_uninstaller_download.html , start your PC in safe mode and uninstall any previous AMD or nVidia drivers with this tool.

Then restart your PC and download and install the latest nVidia drivers from their website.

Hmm... is it possible that your CPU or GPU are overheating?

Have you checked temps while under load (playing games)? You can use this http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html to monitor your temperatures.

If you want play a game for 5-10 min and then take a screen shot of what HWmonitor shows - temperatures on both CPU and GPU. If any of these components are overheating they will throttle down by reducing their operating speeds to reduce heat. In that case you will have to do some cleaning of the dust that may have been build up over time and check if the fans are spinning properly etc.

This was after about 10 mins of low setting on bf4 at about an average of 30 fps.

Hey thanks for the screenshot,

there are some crazy readings there with temperatures hitting over 100 C.

But sadly you have closed the graph where it shows the CPU temps. Click on the "+" next to Intel Core i7 2600 so I can see these temps too. You can just tell me what it say, no need to upload another screenshot if you don't want.

I see, well it doesn't sound like the CPU or the GPU are overheating. The readings with the crazy temps of 128 C are apparently for North Bridge but they are probably false readings.

By the way, is your PSU (power supply unit) powerful enough for your new graphics card? Do you know the exact model?

I upgraded the psu first so i would not have any problems with the old one. This is the psu i use now.

Hm... I'm running out of ideas.

Your drivers are up to date.
Your GPU and CPU are not overheating.
Your PSU is more than enough for your system.

Here I found a video where a guy with same CPU like yours but a little bit slower graphics card - GTX 670 gets average of around 50 FPS on Ultra settings. His CPU isn't overclocked either.

Don't know what to suggest.

yeah, im just as confused as you because i expected at least a solid 60fps on high settings. But thanks so much for all of your input

Is it possible that some type of power saving is enabled which lowers the frequencies your CPU works at? I guess you could try monitor that as well.

There is a very good article here http://www.overclock.net/t/1229915/how-to-cpu-and-gpu-usage-along-with-fps-in-game explaining what and how to install so you can monitor anything you wish with an in-game display of the values. You can configure it to show CPU and GPU speeds, usage, temperatures, RAM usage and what not. Maybe just set it up so it would show the operating speeds on the GPU and CPU so you can keep an eye on them while playing to see if there is something wrong.

If not as a last resort I guess you could try reinstalling Windows.

.

So after a few days of learning what i would need to re-install windows, i finally did it. I downloaded bf4 and all of the necessary drivers and voilà! An average of 80 fps on 1920x1080 ultra settings. Im so ecstatic that this worked and that i do not have to look into it anymore. Although, the gpu fan does make a lot of noise only when i play bf4 now but i attribute that to the poorly ventilated stock dell case and fans which i will be replacing soon. Thanks so much for all of you input
