Hey, I'm having a problem with identifying my CPU. My system properties state I'm using an AMD FX-6300, however CPU-Z claims I'm using an AMD FX-6110, can anybody explain why this is happening, and which is correct? I'm not well versed in CPU's.
Many thanks

Really odd. In the CPU-Z screenshot it claims to be an FX 6110, and then lower it again claims to be an FX 6300.

An FX 6110 is not compatible with your motherboard, so I'd lean toward it being an FX 6300. Honestly, the only way to check 100% for sure would be to open up the PC, remove the CPU cooler and have a look at the model number on the CPU itself.

I checked for BIOS updates but it seems there's only one version available for your motherboard, so it's completely up to date. You could try resetting the CMOS if you'd like. http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/tp/clearcmos.htm The BIOS version is the easiest route.

Do you have an old version of CPU-Z that pre-dates the 6300? CPU-Z is up to version 1.69.2. You actually don't know what cpu is in your rig? Edit: I see that is a very old version of CPU-Z in your screenshot. 1.58. Update it and I bet it correctly identifies your cpu correctly
