OK. I had a Card that required a minimum of 18a on the rail. My PSU had exactly 18a on the rail. Okay, no problem. Well, so I thought. Did fine then I was gaing and got to a very intensive part in the game and things started going bad. The card was a good one and well above what the game required. I cut back on the settings some which helped, but I knew I should be playing at higher settings. After some thought, I decided that al though my PSU met mnimum requirements for the card, it wasn't supplying enough for the more intensive parts. Bought a new PSU with 42a on the rail and never had another moments problems. Now having said that, if your card says it requires a minimum of 42a on the rail and you have 40a, if you think you have plenty, then fine, but you are not going to be happy. I speak from personal experience and not from some theoretical stuff on paper, that may or may not work in practice. You can get a Corsair 650wTX which has 42a on the rail, but you have no headroom, which is desirable. There are some very good PSU's out ther in your $120 budget range.
