Hi

I wanted some help/advice as i need to use my corsair Vs450w with the current setup and amd r9 270x will it work.Extreme psu calculator says that i need 378w with my current setup but I did a lot of internet searching some say it will and some say it wont work i am confused. The minimum is 500w but as my old graphic card was an AMD XFX 5770 1gb i bought the Vs 450w 6 months back alao I have a 600w psu which is a local 1 and running good but it is 4 year old and i cant trust it since its old.My budget also restricts me to buy a new 600w psu so i am stuck with my 600w old and 450w psu

VIP 600 w = Dual +12v rails @ 28A which gives 236w each / 1 x 6 pin
Corsair VS450 w = single +12v rail @ 34A which gives 408w / 2 x 6 pin

Intel 3rd Gen Core - i5 3470 @ 3.6Ghz
Ram - Kingston 10gb @ 1333Mhz
Graphic Card - Sapphire AMD R9 270X 2GB OC w/Boost
Board - Intel DB75EN
Hdisk - WD Caviar Blue 500gb @ 7200rpm
Psu - VIP 600W
Cooler Cpu - Corsair H70

Solution
The Reference R9 270X uses about 145w on a high load. It is recommended to use a 500w PSU. The Sapppire OC version would use a bit more . 450w should be fine as long as the PSU is not too old and of good quality, And Corsair is of good quality and depending on which particular PSU good quality is an understatement. Did you mean crossfire by Dual?

Yes i am not running crossfireX as my board does not support it i have no future plans on doing so and no plans of OC of graphic card or Cpu so i take it as a YES that my corsair vs450w will run nicely without any hiccups and i forgot to mention i have 1x led fan and a dvd writer but if they cause a problem i can remove the fan.

I am too building an amd based rig including fx6300 ,r9 270, 8gb ram, 2tb seagate baracuda,i may also include an optical drive and msi g43 mobo.
But for the psu I'm going for corsair vs450w psu, they say its 85% efficient and can handle the rig easily easily..but some reviews say differently.
Can someone please tell me, will this really be enough for my build..cause the more i read the reviews the more i get confused.
