Hello

Could anyone tell me is the Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X 4GB better than the Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Tri-X OC 4GB?

Is the Sapphire Radeon R9 290 Vapor-X 4GB overclocked as it does not say "OC" in PCCG? please see links:

Can anyone find info on benchmarks between the two GPUs?

Any thoughts appreciated

If you were going to purchase the Sapphire Tri X, you might want to consider the Sapphire Vapor-X which is overclocked, it has some better hardware on the PCB [Digital Power control, a new Aero6 VRM section delivering 6-phase power with high power Direct-FET technology to the GPU, memory and control circuitry, the latest version of SAPPHIRE Black Diamond chokes, High reliability solid electrolyte capacitors, and a few other less important goodies. And, it comes with 3 games of your choice [as long as they are on the availability list].

The Sapphire Vapor-X is only about $20 more than the Tri-X

Note: I posted this in another forum. I believe more hardware info is available at www.guru3d.com

Hello Danra

Thanks for the reply I brought the Sapphire Vapor-X it is nice. It does the job for me - quite, decent performance, and good looking. However this is my first real major graphics card so don't have much to compare it to. The only thing is it came with what appears to be thermal paste coming out the side about a millimeter or so, the thermal paste is not flush with the side of the GPU is this normal?

Glad you have a good card. Yes, 1mm and not flush with the side of the GPU is normal. It is not what I would want, however, I have seen worse, and you should not have any problem.
