How do I set up my Netgear WNDR3700 as an AP from my DGND3700? They are connected by cable, but I want to extend by wireless n

My main modem/router is a Netgear N600 Wireless dual band gigabit ADSL2+ modem router giving both cable and wireless internet through the house. Unfortunately the wireless signal does not reach to the far end of the house. I have had a cable installed from this modem/router to the far room, and now attached an N600 Wireless dual band gigabit router model WNDR3700 to the cable outlet. I still can't get wireless from this!
I disabled DHCP on the second router, added its static IP to the modem/router, gave them the same SSID and password, but separate channels and it still doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?

  1. Make sure that the ethernet cable is plugged into a LAN port on each router, not the WAN port.

Try testing with a different SSID temporarily.
