Hi, i have a ms-7658 mobo with 2 memory slots which currently has 2 sticks of 2 gb 1333mhz timing 9-9-9, 1.5 v in it . I wanted to upgrade my mobo to 6gb so i bought a kingston 4 gb stick wich has the same specs as the 2 gb sticks. However when i combine a 2gb stick with the 4 gb stick my system freezes at the boot screen and when i use the 4 gb stick alone it will continue to the " starting windows" screen but then crashes en go to a bsod.

Any idea's what the problem could be ?

Solution
try to insert that ram stick in some other system if you have and see if it works.
but anyways if you dont have it could be faulty ram stick

The System freezes because this mobo supports only single-channel architecture memory and that means that all sockets have to be equally in size otherwise it wont work. if you want more ram than add 2x4gb but do not mix sizes.

What about that he said he tested it with just the 4GB RAM stick and it still crashed?

I tried the ram on another pc and it worked. It crashes with only one stick of 4 gb but would it certainly work with 2 sticks of 4 gb?

I'm not able to increase the voltage in my bios ( crappy bios ... )

And i shouldn't worry that for some reason this stick is incompatible with my mobo? Because i still find it strange that a 2gb stick works alone but the 4gb doesn't

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support and would like to offer our assistance. If this is a recently purchased 4GB module than it is most likely Single Rank, 4Gbit high density memory which is not supported in P55 motherboards. We no longer suppor Intel 5 series motherboards or pre-Sandy Bridge CPUs as they do not support 4Gbit high density memory. Currently supported Intel Chipsets are Series 6 and later with Sandy-Bridge and later CPUs. We can identify if the part you have is affected by this compatibiliy issue based on a couple part numbers on our label. For further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or another available Technician will assist you.

Thank you for selecting Kingston as your upgrade partner.
