I own a Dell XPS 15 L501X laptop and my battery is not charging. The battery did charge in a local computer store indicating that the adapter is broken. It is a Dell adapter model DA130PE1-00 with 19.5V and 6.7A. The light indicating that its in the socket still works and it still powers the laptop, it is just not charging it anymore.

I have some soldering skills and I was wondering if i could fix the problem by replacing a specific part inside the adapter ??

greetings,

edit#1: Thanks for the answer. The problem itself lies with the adapter. This can be concluded by using a different adapter which did charge the laptop again. So what are some common parts (that break) that can be replaced when broken in the adapter?

Hi

The first problem would be opening the case, and the second closing it securely again . as I have not seen any dell laptop psu held together by screws

Often the problem is a broken wire near the plug into the laptop or the socket in the laptop.
If you buy a non Dell replacement ask to test it in the shop

Dell laptops may not accept some chargers, they can detect 60W, 90W or 120 W psu and object if too low power for laptop (bios option)
