I want to buy a new router. my internet speed is 100mbps. my old wireless router gets 54mbps because it is 802.11 b/g. i want to buy this new router that says it can get up to 150mbps (i know i can only get up to 100 because that's the max speed of my modem). Its a Netgear N150 WRN1000. Since this is only a 802.11 b/g router also, does this mean its wireless speeds will only reach 54mbps? I read that 802.11 G protocol gets 54 mbps.

Wireless-G, by spec, has a maximum transfer rate of 54Mbps. The Netgear N150 WRN1000 is a "budget" Wireless-N router and has a maximum transfer rate of up to 150Mbps. For internet access, you'd still be limited to 100Mbps, but transferring files from 1 PC to another you'd have a maximum transfer rate of up to 150Mbps. Wireless transfer rates aren't guaranteed and can vary based on operating environment and conditions.
