At first I wanted to buy a Sapphire R9 280 (850mHz), but then I thought, maybe I can save $70 bucks and get a Sapphire R9 270X(1.02gHz) and overclock it. So I just had a couple questions about it.

1. How would an overclocked R9 270X compare to a non overclocked R9 280?

2. I have an Inwin G7 case, and it has 1 fan on the front and 1 fan on the back. Would I need to buy more fans if I overclock the R9 270X?

3. If I decide to get the 280, and if I decide to OC it, should I add more fans to my case? And what precautions do I need to take before overclocking?

I would defintaly add more fans to your case before overclocking as mass heat is produced depending on how far you want to push the GPU's.
A overclocked r9 270x would still not match the performance of a non-overclocked r9 280x, as shown in this benchmark:

So honestly its probably worth buying the r9 280x and overclocking that further to gain better performance.

Also make sure your PSU has enough wattage to power the GPU and other components but also enough watts to spare to overclock the GPU too.
Hope this helps!

1) I would just save the $70 and get the r9 270x the 280 is about 5-10% better but you could make that up by overclocking

at 1080p you'll probally see a 5 fps difference
2) i would probably buy one or two more fans as overclocking produces more heat
3)yes, you should add fans to your case either way

what I did once to my old case is that when ever I play games or over clock processor, etc. I would just remove the panels of my case so there will be more ventilation rather than adding fans.

This does improve ventilation but there is always a risk that a electrical surge that will then cause a harmful electrical bolt to electrocute the person operating the computer or anyone else around.
That's why its also highly recommended that you turn off your computer once you are messing around inside.
If you are doing this, please be careful :)
