Hello :) I'm a newbie trying to make a computer so i'm researching parts. What i'm researching right now is monitors, so I have a couple of questions.
What are these things?:

Hz
Refresh rate (example 1ms-10ms).
1920x1080
VGA and DVI. I know what HDMI is tho
12M:1
LED

Keep in mind i'm pretty much a newbie, so I probably won't understand if you shortend words into letters, etc.

Solution
Hz is the fresh rate of the monitor, the amount of times it refreshes a second.
Respone time - the amount of time it takes for the monitor to respond to a signal
1920x1080 - the resolution, its the amount of pixels the monitor has, 1920x1080 is 1080p as it uses 1920 pixels width and 1080 pixels height.
VGA is analogue way of carrying video signal, DVI is digital but doesn't carry audio (The same video as HDMI)
LED uses LED as pixels instead of LCD or Plasma.
Hope this helps!

Thank you, but what are led, lcd and plasma pixels and what is the difference? Also i've heard that if a monitor has 60hz it means that the maximum fps it can have is 60, and if it has 144hz the maximum fps it can play is 144, etc, is this true? And do you personally feel that there's a big difference between 1920x1080 and 2560x1440? What would you recommend for high-end gaming like crysis 3, ac black flag and battlefield 4 on ultra?

Led=light emitting diode = brighter cooler less power=latest tech
LCD= liquid crystal display= the opposite of above
Plasma=only used in Tv's to my knowlege
I believe you are correct on the hz question but I could be wrong
The higher the rez the better the picture quality but you need a stronger card to drive it
