Greetings,
If I posted this in the incorrect section, please let me know. Sort of had a hard time finding the appropriate category.
My grandpa is looking for a storage solution that is accessible regardless of location.
Here are his needs.
Storage Solution
-Accessible from remote locations
-Secure, Encryption
-Access both mac and PC
-Support Backup software from multiple devices, Mac/Pc/Android/iOS
-Accessible from anywhere, so that you can back up those devices from anywhere.
-Storage for personal documents as well as work related.
-Shareable
-Catalog Capability (Searchable, checks for redundancies)
-Partions, but you must be able to share accross the partitions. So one could be delegated to one user, but if you wanted to switch files from one to another you can.
If all of these specifications cannot be met, I totally understand. We aren't needing every one of these. Just a sort of insight into what we are looking for. If you even nailed just the remote accessibility requirement, that would almost be enough. Encryption would be the only necessity.
We were looking at Seagate's Central option, and Western Digital's MyCloud option. Which is better in your opinion and why? He needs information on Speed, Dependability, and Up time.
There were complaints about when the internet connection got interrupted, the different solutions wouldn't reconnect by themselves.
He and I are just looking for more expert opinions as this isn't either of our forte's.
Also, if you can find a better solution that meets those requirements, please list it here!
Thanks a bunch,
Godbless & Most Sincerely,
Mathew J.K.
