Mic on headset is really quiet

Hi my mic on my headset is really quiet. My friends are always complaining about how quiet it is. Ive tried all settings to turn it up on windows an its still quiet. Ive turned up the setting on skype also.
My sound card is a sound blaster audigy and my headset is a somic g923. Im thinking its the mic dyin or not far from my mouth. I am planning on getting a new headset.

Its possible the mic is dying, i've had that happen before. One thing to check, open up the windows sound manager, in recording double click on the mic. Since this is a headset you can go to the listen tab, click "Listen to this device", hit apply, speak and see if it comes through super quite for you. Also check the Levels tab while you're there and make sure that is cranked all the way up. If levels is showing it at 100 and you hear yourself coming through really quietly then it is quite likely dying hardware.

I have done this before and ive already cranked it to 100 i guess ill just get a new headset with better quality. The one i have now is cheap and was a gift so now ill do a little more research. Thnx
