Hi The World; I am not a gamer. However; I like music; and I use Business Applications. Which one of the two would be of most benefit to me. I have a Motherboard that has PCI-E 3 slot on it.

What I am asking; what is the difference between the two.?

Mostly speed. I believe that for the usage you mentioned, you would not notice a difference between versions 2 & 3, even in years to come.
You can plug PCI-E 2 cards into PCI-E 3 slots and they will work just fine.
