Hello! I have just recently noticed a clicking sound in my new computer (built in late February - early March) and I have no idea if it is normal, or if I should be worried about it. My computer will be exhibited at a school event on Wednesday and if this is a sign of hard drive failure, its the worst possible time for it. Any idea on what it might be or how to fix it or if I should even be concerned about it?

A recording of the sound: http://www.mediafire.com/listen/oadr55fyyt9dxfd/CLICKING.wav

It's highly unlikely a young HDD would fail already. Possible, but not normal. swifty_morgan is right. Don't panic yet. Could even be a virus or malware you picked up. I'd still do an image backup or a clone to another drive just in case.

the sound of clicking comes from bad sectors that the hdd drive tries to recover, it is sign that the hdd can fail and should be replaced.
backup any important data to a safe storage.

It passed both the quick test and extended test. Now the noise is a lot less frequent or loud, as well - just normal HDD occasional click. I dont know what happened but everything seems cool.
