I started a thread here: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2274677/problems...
The post is long, so I figured it would be more courteous to do it there rather than clog this one.
The main problem is likely with an ASUS z97 AR mobo which I recently picked up.

Hey Asus and everyone else. I recently (sept 7 2014) built a system using a Z97 Pro (Wi-Fi) Asus Mobo, and everything was going well the first day, but now on day 2 the wireless adapter has refused to be recognized by my OS. If I go into my network settings it says dial up or ethernet is available, but it acts like I don't even have on-board Wi-Fi, which is weird because it worked the day before perfectly fine.
I'm running Win 8.1 Pro on an i7-4790K build. I've checked for Driver updates associated with the Wi-Fi Engine and Wi-Fi GO, but the internet claims I have the latest and greatest drivers/updates for these items. If I go into my drivers list in Windows I see that it claims the BroadCom device is not working properly.
I have ensured that all my drivers are installed and up to date. The ONLY thing I did not update on the computer was the BIOS. That is still at the stock update. I do have a working router, as my other devices connect normally to the router via Wi-Fi.
Thanks in advance for advice, help, ideas, and answers!

Update UEFI (BIOS) first if you have not. If no help:
Do you have a spare hard drive? If so disconnect all other drives and setup a dummy install on it. See if you get a connection with that. Do not install any software for now - just the bare minimum drivers. See how it connects. If it's sporadic, change the router channel and see if that helps.

I'm in the midst of a build of a Z97 Pro (WIFI) and 4790k. So far installed only the memory and the Plextor 256gb m.2 drive and loaded Windows. Using the plextor as my boot drive.
Now, I plug in a pair of WD 1TB and a pair of WD 3TB. I plan to configure each pair into RAID 0.
My problem is that the BIOS can't seem to detect any drive plugged into SATA6G_5 and SATA6G_6.
Am I missing something here?
On the other SATA connectors, I have the ff:
SATA6G_1 Internal SATA (3TB)
SATA6G_2 Internal SATA (3TB)
SATA6G_3 Docking Bay
SATA6G_4 Chassis SATA port
SATA6G_5 Internal SATA (1TB)
SATA6G_6 Internal SATA (1TB)
SATA6G_E1 BluRay Drive
SATA6G_E2 Docking Bay SATA port
Anything wrong I am doing here?
Also, What's the difference between the SATA6G_x and SATA6G_Ex?

Hello
Great that there is an official support thread! I have resisted posting my problem here as I didnt want to hijack the thread!
I just want to ask a simple question regarding boot up. I have just built a computer and have been forced to bench test it as I have been getting red lights flashing when booting up. I followed Tradesmans1's thread called 'bench it - troubleshooting'.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-1753671/bench-trou...
Is it normal for my Z97-a to have red LED's flash on for a second or so when the computer boots up, is this normal? If not what should I see, green lights? ....no lights at all? The build is bellow and i suspect the crucial DDR3 may be the issue? May I refer you to my other thread which explains the problem in more detail please:
EDIT: the lights are not solid they do not stay on, for example when I boot the system without the ram the ram LED remains lit. I am referring to brief red flashing.

So I was about to try this potential solution, when a much more drastic problem has developed. My computer will no longer boot to windows. It keeps hanging up on the Windows is preparing devices screen, it either freezes there, or now after so many attempts to reinstall and change things around each time, my constant error is a watchdog timeout, which is bad. That can either be both my hard drives, my gpu, cpu, bios, or mobo I assume.
How do I update the bios, from the bios? is it done via EZ update button on the mobo? Or is there another method I am unaware of? Would you suggest resetting the bios?

I have a very similar problem with an installation I started yesterday!
My previous build was:
AMD Phenom II X4 965
MB: GA-770T-USB3
RAM: DDR3 12 GB
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 670
So in the end I chose to get the ASUS Z97-A and an Intel Core i5 4690.
In my ignorance I figured it would be as simple as just moving the parts off my old motherboard and onto the new, so that is what I did. After assembling everything correctly (or so I suspected....that much is not clear currently) I tried to boot up the computer. It delivered me to the "EZ update" BIOS management screen. I wasn't totally sure if I needed to do anything there, and after reading the booklet which came with the MB it didn't suggest I absolutely needed to update my BIOS or anything, so I told the computer to boot up. After showing the microsoft logo and the little moving balls (windows 7) for roughly 2 seconds, a blue screen appeared with some sort of error message, but one that flashed too quickly to read. Then it tried to boot up again. This time I tried running a repair with boot up, but that simply never ended. It just continued to repair until I turned off the computer.
Currently, the following circumstances reliably repeat during every boot up:
As soon as I press the power button, the fans start spinning and it starts to power up for about 2 seconds, and then a red light near the CPU turns on, and the entire system turns off. Then the system boots up again, and often manages to deliver me again to the BIOS menu. During this time various red lights turn on around the computer. Sometimes it will try and fail to boot up two times in a row, and sometimes it is only once.
I was not sure what sort of problem this was, so I tried a variety of things.
I tried to unplug the EATX12V plug, the one which supposedly corresponds to the CPU. This is an 8 pin hole which I use two 4 holed plugs to plug up to. When those plugs are removed, but the 24 pin slot is still plugged in with the PSU, the motherboard lights up in what seems (to me) to be a more healthy fashion. There are no red lights anywhere. But nothing shows up on the monitor because the CPU is not powered on. The instant I try plugging those cords back in, the same boot up pattern returns.
I also tried moving my GPU to a different slot, moving the RAM around, starting with no RAM, pluging the SATA cords into different ports, plugging in different combinations of cords coming from the PSU (either the same pattern is produced or the computer fails to turn on).
Is there some big thing I am missing? Is there some reason why using a brand new motherboard with used components would cause problems? If I could find a way to read the error message on the blue screen, I would.
I appreciate the help!

I just seemed to have solved the problem. This forum lead to to the solution:
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1822238
Specifically:
"I just installed the same MoBo with i5 4430 and Asus GTX750Ti. I was getting a bluescreen right after exiting Bios and it just flashed and restarted. Windows couldn't solve it.
I changed the PCH storage configuration in the advanced settings from ACHI(default?) to IDE and that solved my issue."

Hi guys, few days ago i put together my new PC with a Z97-A motherboard and everything works well. But yesterday in the advanced mode i noticed something weird.
In the hardware monitor section, where it displays the info about the voltages, temps etc. the RAM voltage always stays at around 1.69v, no matter what value i put in, 1.5, 1.65, it always says that it runs at 1.69v.
I updated the BIOS, double checked again, still stays the same. Now is this some glitch and i shouldn't worry too much about it or is there a problem? I have 2 sticks of HyperX Genesis 1600Mhz memory, KHX1600C9D3/4G. Oh yes and the timings default to 11-11-11-28 instead of 9-9-9-27 but that's not a big deal for me. I tried to check the voltage through some program like HWInfo, CPU-Z etc. but they only show the JEDEC and XMP profiles, not the voltage that it runs at currently.
Everything else works perfectly and the system is stable.
If it's of any help, here is the rest of the system:
CPU: i5 4670K
GPU: R9 270 DC2OC
HDD: 1TB WD10EZEX
PSU: CM V450S
Case: CM K380
I didn't overclock anything btw, everything is at stock.

Hi,Can you save UEFI sceenshots please - use a FAT32 formatted drive and save screenshots by pressing F12. Then convert to JPEG and upload. Capture the monitoring page and the AI Tweaker section that shows DRAM voltage.
-Raja
Well there wasn't any info on DRAM voltage in the monitor section, only on the cpu and 3.3, 5 and 12v rails.
Here is one from the Ai Tweaker:

EDIT:
LOL i'm such an idiot, i thought after changing the setting it should refresh automatically, i set it to 1.5v, then rebooted, and it showed 1.543v. Looks like it defaults to 1.65v on auto, 1.693v more precisely.
Still, isn't + 0.43v a little bit high?

My question above somehow got left out so pls let me re-ask:
I'm in the midst of a build of a Z97 Pro (WIFI) and 4790k. So far installed only the memory and the Plextor 256gb m.2 drive and loaded Windows. Using the plextor as my boot drive.
Whatever I plug into SATA6G_5 and SATA6G_6, the BIOS can't seem to detect it.
Does the m.2 socket (when plugged into) disable SATA 5 and 6?

the M.2 shares space and has priority over the SATA Express slots. I can't quite remember, but I believe the SATA Express slots in turn share bandwidth and have priority over SATA 5 and 6.

Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster. I'm in the middle of building a new system and I have a question about the system panel header. It's an ASRock z97 Extreme3 and the header looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/3pCJO.jpg (Sorry for the potato quality, it was the only one I could find).
My questions is this: for the power button and reset button does it matter which ground I use? For instance, for the power button, would it matter if I connected it horizontally and used the ground pin beside it or vertically and used the ground pin below it? If that makes sense.
I saw in another thread that someone posted this image which shows you to connect everything horizontally: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/892/systempanelheader.jp...
But I'd like to know if it really matters.

For support on ASRock boards, you will need to start a new thread in the forum. This thread is for official support ASUS Z97 boards only.

I picked up a Sabertooth z97 Mark 2 board last week and have been mostly satisfied with it thus far. One thing that has bothered me is that my mouse doesn't seem to work in the fancy GUI BIOS. The cursor starts out in the middle of the screen when I enter the setup and only twitches madly about within that small area when I attempt to move it.
Ordinarily, I would just use the advanced setup and chalk it up as something to look into later. Unfortunately, Windows began having issues keeping the system clock moving so I reset the jumpers beneath the CMOS battery. This worked and now I am at the point where I need to reset the time and date in the BIOS.
Unfortunately, I cannot set it within the 'EZ' mode due to the mouse cursor refusing to do anything but twitch about and I cannot seem to access the date and time options in the advanced setup (the highlight just passes over the options entirely when using the cursor keys to navigate)
How can I fix this mouse issue within the BIOS GUI? It is powered and seems to be acknowledged by the system due to the way the cursor seems to attempt to move with the mouse. For whatever reason it just appears to be locked into that center position and I would really like to set my system clock.
Thank you.

Thank you.

I didn't bother updating to 1304 bios on my Sabertooth Mark 2 Z97. My 4690k is very stable@4.7ghz@1.290Vcore with the 1200 bios. Their's a saying "that if it isn't broken, don't fix it", I'm a firm believer in that. Motherboard bios updates are not very easy the way Asus makes you do it(cap file), nor would I ever attempt to update a bios via USB stick(so much can go wrong with USB sticks). I don't see any changes in the 1304 bios that are a must have it just says "increased stability" and that doesn't explain anything.

I picked up a Sabertooth z97 Mark 2 board last week and have been mostly satisfied with it thus far. One thing that has bothered me is that my mouse doesn't seem to work in the fancy GUI BIOS. The cursor starts out in the middle of the screen when I enter the setup and only twitches madly about within that small area when I attempt to move it.Ordinarily, I would just use the advanced setup and chalk it up as something to look into later. Unfortunately, Windows began having issues keeping the system clock moving so I reset the jumpers beneath the CMOS battery. The boards are on sale on Newegg and some other vendors, you can search on there directly for prices.Sorry I can't figure out how to make a post in this STICKY. Last time I started a new one damn it. -

I forgot to mention I have a i5-4690K w/ my Z-97 Deluxe. I have setup a Test Bench before placing all in case. I fired it up (it didn't explode fyi lol) & I got into the BIOS.
The thing is, my USB was not shown where u need to Update Drivers. It did show in the EZ Mode.
This leaves me to believe that my exFAT programed San Disk 3.0 was not correct. I reformatted but in FAT32. (haven't tried it yet) The problem is - or is there a problem? - I transferred my FILES to my Notebook Desktop, then deleted the USB. After the format & switch to FAT32 I dragged & dropped back in.
Backing up to when I saw the issue, I shut it off & when I went to do go through it again I got a message.
*Secure Boot Violation - The system found unauthorized changes.....>Boot and change the current boot device... ALL in a RED block.
Below is the list of drivers for my setup & Win. 7 64bit - Note: I did not attempt to get an OS in. I'll wait till after I finish my BIOS Update.
I have watched a video how to by an ASUS rep. PCDIY - "What to do with your PC hardware before you build"
Here is my BIOS Driver list. Please tell me if this is correct.

Thanks for any help.
EDIT* I have now installed my OS Win. 7 64bit. Thing is it WILL NOT load directly, I have to press F8 & click on my HDD. It is also about 10 min. to get to the log in screen. - quick info, more in depth below
I got the latest BIOS in #1304, yet can NOT get anymore drivers installed. 2 days of trying.
I can see the Drivers in the system, yet when I press enter, it just cycles back through over & over?
Do I have to keep doing that dumb press F8 then pop in the disc nonsense every time I want to update a driver?
I installed the BIOS before the OS. I have not been connected to an Ethernet cable during most of this until late today, Oct 1st.
Now after being wire connected, I can't get any signal so this is not getting any better. I think I'm going to RMA it unless I get some answers fast, be it here or from ASUS Support which was sent in today.
Either I don't have 2 clues, or this is one broken pos MBO that is pissing me off greatly. RMA or hammer time by end of week.
This is a very frustrating situation that *I can't tell if it's partially me, or just a defective product.
System is in Test Mode on a table still.
I need help asap. Very frustrated w/ the struggle to get operational.
It also tends to keep making my Optical Drive disappear, even though it is the #1 BOOT Priority. I restart, then most times it comes back. - tried making HDD the Boot Priority but it still wouldn't load direct from off.

Hi there everyone,
I recently purchased this motherboard as upgrade in July and never install a dvd rom with it. Can someone teach me where I should plug my dvd rom on this motherboard?
I also have a side fan (free gift when I purchased this item..) and I am not sure how I can install that too. The pc currently have 2 fans at the front, 2 at the back already. The sale only told me it's for the left side of the case...
I know it may be a dumb question but really seeking for some helps here.
Many thanks
