Hi guys,

I got around to building a spec today and, the problem I have is the, XFX R9 290X is not being detected by the motherbard MSI Z87-G55, when I enter the BIOS, as I go through board view, it seems like the cpu, heatsink, ram, all the usb ports and other connectors seems to be connected, however it seems like the grahpics card is not, it just keeps saying the slot is empty, any help would be appreciated guys :)

Full specs? Have you connected all the power cables to the GPU? Does the GPU work in the other PCIe x16 slots?

So I just kept trying and trying, I thought it was never going to work, but I got it to work guys !!!!, the trick was removing the GPU and place it on another PCI slot, and removing the rams and putting them back on, took out all the cabling too and put them back on.

SPECS :
Intel i5 4760k
XFX Radeon R9 290X 4GB
MSI Z87- G55
16 GB Kingston RAM
2TB Seagate Hard-drive
Zalman CNPS14X heatsink
Integra R2 750W 80+ Bronze
Zalman Z9 Plus Case

So it works fine, but not when you put in into the 1st PCIe x16 slot? If that's the case, your motherboard is probably faulty.

I actually ended up putting the gpu back on the original slot, no its not the motherboard, infact its actually the RAM, one of the 8gb ram has a chip on the bottom gold plates, which was the issue, as soon as i removed that, it worked.

Good to know, replacing RAM is a lot easier than replacing a mobo :)
