Is this a good first gaming PC build?

Will it run on medium settings without lag ?? DayZ, Farcry3, COD, Battlefield..? Also, is the motherboard good? I was looking for the cheapest one that's decent. My total budget is $400-430

Yes, for the money that is a great build.

No not at all. That Athlon is a NEW CPU and actually holds it own very well. That CPU and the 260x are a perfect pair and widely recommended.

nono i didn't know athlon was still coming out, never thought of it being new, maybe an fx 6300 would be better for a budget build? but even then i think it would be more expensive, for the price this build looks good, and the R7 260X is arguably the best price/performance ratio on the market

First of all, your link is a blank list. YOu must copy the direct link it gives you or the BBCode.

Second, the 6300 is a bit much for the 260x. He will be perfectly fine with the 760k. As I said, the 760k and 260x are a VERY good match and air recommended often.

Don't forget CPU boss is EXTREMELY biased with their results. They only use ONE benchmark of each category to make a conclusion. These CPUs are actually VERY VERY close overall. The 760k is GREAT for the money and pairs excellently with the 260x.
