So just got my fx8350 little up grade from my 8320 i guess, well i just wanted to go over 5ghz, and did all my waterlooping was hoping to get over 5ghz but im stuck at a wall. right now im at 4.9ghz at 1.489v and no matter what i set the volts not going over 1.55 cant even get prime to run for 5mins

Solution
Some chips overclock higher than others. Your chip very well can only go to 4.9. No matter how much voltage you put it just can't go higher. There are probably other chips that can get to 5.0 with less than 1.5v.

You are using watercooling? Try reapplying the thermal paste (just a little bit!) and remounting the cooler on the CPU.

Hope I could help!

some chips overclock better than others. Some chips overclock the same but require more/less voltage than others to get there. Consider yourself lucky hitting 4.9, there are several chips that don't even get that. But the 8320 and 8350 are the same chip, with the same chance of hitting 5.0 as the other. Perhaps put your 8320 back in and try to get it that way.

But btw you wont notice a performance difference between 4.9 and 5.0

I run 4.89 ghz 24/7 and only need just above stock voltage. But to hit 5.0-2 I need 1.55v and thermals even with my custom loop still get borderline.

Take this guy's word for it. The watercoolers actually really aren't that much better than the aircoolers, and maybe it just can't go to 5 Ghz. 4.9 GHz is really fast, and just be happy with it!

4.9 rounds up to 5 so you can still tell all your friends that you have a 5GHz CPU, and that is incredible. Unless you want to spend another wad of cash on a better cooler, be happy with it and enjoy it, bro!

I've spent over $800 in my water cooling loop and still can't continuously render when 5.2ghz profile is loaded. Its great to load it and have it stable to run benchmarks and such but at 1.55-.60v and heat it generates I don't want to take the lifetime off my chip that quick. Which 4.8ghz is plenty fast and can do with great temps. You'll barely notice an actual difference using your computer clocked at 4.8 vs 1.52.

I'd be happy you can get 4.9 out of it, I've seen plenty that can't even hit 4.8.

Mines about the same except xspc and dual gtx 770's. Depending if this is pure gaming or if its a workstation rendering ect pc, going Intel will only be a side grade. And if your looking for max Overclocking potential, then Intel Haswell route will net you a worse experience than this AMD venture of yours. The 4770k and 8350 are so close once overclocked that a side swap to Intel will net you a $500 same performance giving switch. Only reason to go Intel from what you have (since you already have it) would be the 3930k or 4930k. Those are six core i7's which run $550 a piece, plus need a 2011 board (Asus rampage black vi $500) which nets you way more features than the AMD counterpart and a CPU which will actually net a performance increase vs your 8350. But that 'upgrade' is a $1000-1000 upgrade. Which are my plans after my July wedding, also glad I picked up a CPU block for AMD and Intel when I purchased my components. Also trying to wait for reviews and benchmarks to see if the titan z will offer great workstation class and gaming class graphics, otherwise ill probably just go sli titan blacks.

yah img etting my FX8320 back i had traded it for the FX8350 plus 50$ he is trading me back plus the money. With the FX8320 i was able to get to 4.8ghz on a NH-14d couldnt go any farther fo to thermals. so i should be able to OC past this FX8350

No guarantees, but you have gotten it to 4.8, so even with that's its pretty much on par with your 8350, plus you'll have $50. Win win I would say. Anything over 4.8 if you can get it is just icing on the cake

well got my fx8320 to 5ghz at 1.62v to much for my liking temps and everything where fine never reached 55c on the cores got to like 65c on the socket, so i went back to 4.9 at 1.49v which in cinebench 11.5 scored higher than the 8350 at 4.9 i had in there
